Alice Latimer Moseley was a self-taught primitive folk artist who began painting at the age of 65 as a way to deal with the stress and difficulty of taking care of her Alzheimer’s-afflicted mother. Her art is uniquely Southern, providing an idealistic look back at the past, telling stories with memorable characters and landscapes. Having lived through the Great Depression, Miss Alice had a great admiration for people who experienced adversity, and wanted to honor those people in her art. The Alice Moseley Folk Art & Antique Museum has 48 Moseley originals on display, as well as antiques, glass, pottery, and a rotating gallery of local artists. Please come visit Miss Alice; all are welcome and admission is free!
